Diabetes Symptoms You Should Be Aware Of
|
Diabetes is a disease that can become debilitating and can cause despair for the patient. It is however a manageable disease provided it is diagnosed early and treated at an early stage. But how can you determine diabetes symptoms early on? Those who are already predisposed to diabetes because of heredity or those who belong to the high risk sector should get regular check ups to make sure they are not showing diabetes symptoms. Diabetic testing is also recommended for those who may not belong to the high risk sector but who can possibly be inflicted with diabetes because of their lifestyle. The symptoms for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are similar although of course, a layman who has not experienced being close to a person with diabetes would not recognize them easily. Help yourself and even others by looking at these top diabetes symptoms: 1. High levels of glucose in the blood While this is a common enough symptom for diabetes, it requires a trip to the hospital or to a laboratory before you are able to know if you exhibit this symptom. This occurs when there is a problem with your insulin-producing functions resulting to too much level of glucose in your blood but not in your body cells. 2. Being thirsty all the time It is all right to be thirsty especially when you are engaged in physical activities that produce exertion but if it looks like you are always in dire need of water at all times then take it as a signal that something is wrong in your bodily functions. Unquenchable thirst can be a symptom of diabetes already. 3. Unexplainable weight loss Weight loss may be good news for those who want to keep their vital statistics attractive but this should not be welcome news for a person who is not even trying but is drastically losing weight. Weight loss, although not really drastic or noticeable, can be a symptom of Type 1 diabetes. 4. Fatigue You are entitled to feel tired after a day’s work but if you feel fatigued or weak all the time even after a restful period then this can be a danger sign of diabetes. When the body cells do not have enough glucose to keep up with the daily routine you will become tired and fatigued. 5. Frequent urination For some people, this can be a good sign that they are well hydrated. However, when your visits to the bathroom become abnormally frequent then you’d better go for diabetes testing. A defective insulin level can result to having a full bladder which explains your frequent trips to the bathroom. There are other diabetes symptoms that do not even require you to go for a laboratory test before you know it exists. Just make sure you are aware of your normal body functions and if there are sudden changes which are unexplainable then it is best to check for diabetes symptoms. |
